Good News!
The Ethiopian National Association of the Deaf (ENAD) turned 50 years since its establishment last year. It was not possible to celebrate the 50th year anniversary in a timely manner due to prohibitions on public meetings that were put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also the due to the unstable situation then prevailing in the country. Now, since the situation has shown a lot of improvements from before, preparations are going on to celebrate the event along with the forthcoming International Week of the Deaf People (IWD) with the theme: “Strengthening Our 50 Years Achievements by Building Inclusive Communities for All”
When? 11 to 16 October 2022
What will the celebration include?
The week long cemebration will include:

A two days long exhibition to showcase various products made by the deaf
-
Friendly soccer match
-
Awareness creation workshop
-
Panel discussion
-
A public gathering that will bring together various stackholders
-
Publication of a special editions of ENAD’s magazine Courage (Birtata) that was discontinued for various reasons
How can you participate?
-
By contributing various articles for publication in Courage Magazine, such as true short stories, tales, recollections, poems. The materials must be submitted as soft copy only by email, through Telegram messenger or by coming to the office in person until 31 August 2022.

By participating in the exhibition.
What you can present:-
Various handcrafts (wood, metal, paper, etc.)

Fine arts products such as paintings, sculuptures, graphics
-
Cultural and performance arts such as songs in EthSL, traditional and modern dances, poems, joks, etc.

Promotion of private business and products
-
Any thing that can showcase any special abilities/skills of the deaf can be included in the exhibition
In order to participate in the exhibition, you need to fill in an expresion of interest form and obtain authorization to participate. You can request the form to be emailed to you or obtain a copy by visting the office.
