My body, my Rights and my Deafness Project supported by the Australian Embassy in Adis Ababa held second round training for 46 deaf women and men peer educators.

The Ethiopian National Association of the Deaf launches a project titled “My Body My Rights and My Deafness, Empowering Deaf Girls through Peer Education”, in the presence representatives of the Australian Embassy.

International Week of the Deaf 2021

The Ethiopian National Association of the Deaf is celebrating the 63rd edition of the International Week of The Deaf, which is being observed for the 29th time in Ethiopia. A public gathering was held at the assembly hall of the Ethiopian Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage on 24 September 2021 in the presence of the deaf, partners and other invited guests.

Dr. Liisa Kauppinen visited the ENAD in November 2015

Dr. Liisa Kauppinen, the former president of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), a federation that brings together associations of the deaf from 133 countries, was [on a working visit to the ENAD] in Ethiopia in November 2015. She was accompanied by Ms. Cecilia Hanhikoski from the youth section of the Finnish Association of the Deaf (FAD) and Ms. Euphrasia Mbewe from Zambia who is a frequent visitor to the ENAD as a trainer.

Mr. Colin Allen, WFD President's Visit to the ENAD

Mr. Colin Allen, the president of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) visited the ENAD on 26 March 2015. Although Dr. Liisa Kauppinen has been to Ethiopia after serving the WFD as vice-president and general secretary, Mr. Allen is the first WFD president to visit Ethiopia while still in office.

Mr. Belai Teklu Assists the ENAD During IWD 1999

The International Week of the Deaf 1999 was very colorfully observed at the ENAD Hall with the assistant of the late Mr. Belai Teklu. Mr. Teklu was well known businessman, particularly at the very busy Markatto Area near to the Abune Teklehaimanot Church of Addis Ababa because of his pastry business that catered to a lot of clients.

First Seminar on HIV/AIDs for the Deaf in 1998

An Educational seminar was organized by the ENAD for its members in collaboration with the Gallaudet University in 1998.
